Athletes participating in different sports may encounter different demands. Though many of the same exercises can, and will, be used to train for multiple sports, there are creative drills which simulate mechanics used in a particular sport. The breakdown of a “sport specific” or “position specific” exercise has three main characteristics.
1. Duplicates movement of a particular segment of the sports skill
2. The exercise involves the same type of muscular contraction
3. Utilizes the same range of motion
